Design of Business Reporting System - Global Card Payments

A global card payments company had a legacy ASP application for its principal customers in Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa to submit quarterly certificates of their card issuing and acquiring activities. These certificates were audited by an in-house team, used as the basis for calculating certain quarterly fees and subsequently inserted into the data warehouse for business and marketing analysis purposes.

stpsolutions was originally retained to prepare a detailed Business Requirements Specification for a replacement application. Work involved discussions with Stakeholders; examination of business rules, processes and workflow; and gap analysis with the legacy system. We ultimately produced a range of options for the client with high level estimates of cost, together with a reasoned explanation of our recommended option of starting with an initial conversion of the customer facing application to an ASP.NET environment with built in auditing to improve the quality of the data and reduce audit time and then adding new functionality in a phased approach.

Following budget approval for Phase 1,  stpsolutions' assignment was extended to undertake the writing of the detailed Functional Specification together with substantial contribution to the Technical Specification being created by the Offshore development facility and the Test Strategy developed by the inhouse test manager.

Subsequent to the code being delivered from the Offshore developers, stpsolutions undertook a further assignment overseeing User Acceptance Testing, building an automated testing capability using Borland tools, training users and acting as the interface between the business and the developers with regard to problem resolution and system enhancements. The assignment was then again extended to include the Business  Requirements for Phase 2.
